Meigs
Joseph
Meigs, Professor of English, was born in Atlanta, Georgia,
and raised
in Berkeley, California, and Jacksonville, Florida. He holds
a B.A. degree in English and a minor in Chemistry and Biology
having attended the University of Florida on a basketball
scholarship (1964). He received his M.A. in English in 1967
and his Ph.D. in English in1970, both from the University
of Florida.
Dr. Meigs has taught at Western
Carolina University, Cullowhee, North Carolina, from 1970
to the present. He specializes in Shakespeare, Renaissance
Literature, Literary Criticism and Film as Literature. His
scholarly works include Renaissance courtesy literature, numerous
papers and articles on film, comedy and satire, and language.
He enjoys basketball, running, golf, tennis, skiing, automobile
restoration and water color painting.
